FROM THE HOCO
As you prepare to discover your home for the next three years, let’s discuss why Quincy is the House you want to be in:
The Dining Hall
Admit it freshman, you love eating in Quincy, as does the rest of the campus. It’s definitely an awesome social center for the House — you can often find people studying and working on problem sets until the wee hours of the morning. And on Thursday nights, we have Community Dinner where you can catch up with the rest of your Penguin pals without having to sit in your blockmate’s lap to eat.
Location, Location, Location
Quincy House is prime Harvard real estate. You’re close enough to the Yard that getting to class is a breeze, but you’re removed from the Yard and all those pesky tourists.
Tired of schlepping to Annenberg, the MAC, and Lamont everyday? Upperclassmen in New Quincy have access to the dining hall, the House gym, and The House library, all without ever setting foot outside.
The Grille — always hot. Out partying late on the weekend and need some salty, fatty food to prevent you from waking up, shall we say, “hungry”? The Quincy Grille is the place to be. Where else can you grab mozz sticks, curly fries, and a smoothie at 4 a.m.?
Good luck, freshmen! We look forward to welcoming you to Penguin Paradise.
THE BASICS
Dining Hall
With no restrictions and one of the largest dining halls on the river, Quincy is the new Adams. River rats and quadlings alike flock to Casa Q, making it one of the most crowded places to eat. Quincy residents themselves complain that sometimes finding a seat in their own home sweet home can be difficult, but let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to eat here?
Sophomore Housing
Most sophomores live in Old Quincy, while a lucky few live in DeWolfe doubles. Rooms in Old Quincy are on the smaller side, but are comfy and convenient. Dewolfe residents are farther away, but have kitchens and cable to keep them busy. New Quincy junior and senior housing is well worth the wait, with its larger singles and common rooms with views of Cambridge and Boston.
Perks
Despite the crowds, residents of the ”’People’s House” enjoy the best of both worlds — proximity to the yard and quality housing, topped off with a strong House community. “Quincy Only” dining on Thursday nights, active House Masters, and a Grille keep this house going strong. Don’t miss annual House traditions like the Quincy Exorcism and the Q Ball, plus regular Stein Clubs.

LITERARY MATCHUP
Jules Verne, Journey to the Center of the Earth
With its convenient location and generous interhouse dining policy, Quincy is the unofficial center of undergraduate life at Harvard. While there aren’t any volcanoes or prehistoric creatures in the dining hall, visitors may find the journey harrowing; snagging a table is as difficult as battling an icthyosaur.
NOTABLE ALUMS
Rob Cohen, film director/producer/writer
Lou Dobbs, Managing Editor, Lou Dobbs Tonight
Tom Ridge, first US Secretary of Homeland Security
Phil Bredesen, Governor of Tennessee
X-MEN MATCHUP
Mystique
As much a victim of her circumstances as she is a participant in them, Mystique can take on any form she desires. Mystique is the personification of a “people’s house” if there ever was one, accepting the good, the bad, and the downright ugly. If you thought that last joke was bad, just imagine how dangerous both this mutant and this House could be when provoked with such travesties as death and trayless dining.
