Photo-blogging Chile with Maria Barragan-Santana. Watch for more of Maria’s photos as the summer (or winter, as it may be) goes on! Updates Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Surrounded by the skyscrapers of the Centro Cívico one finds the beautiful Palacio de La Moneda, Spanish for Palace of the Coin. One of Santiago’s most recognizable landmarks, La Moneda is the seat of the President of Chile and houses the offices of three cabinet ministers, one of which is the General Secretariat of the Presidency (its American equivalent: the Chief of Staff), the head of the ministry where I am interning this summer!
I was surprised by how close one can get to the palace, as opposed to the great distance between the White House and the public in the U.S.!
